What many young people wanted to do was dance: the Charleston, the cake walk, the black bottom, and the flea hop were the most popular dances around this time. Jazz bands played at dance halls like the Savoy in New York City and the Aragon in Chicago. Radio stations carried their tunes to listeners across the nation. Some older people objected to jazz musicââ¬â¢s ââ¬Å"Lacking good tasteâ⬠and ââ¬Å"Moral Corruptionâ⬠, but the younger generation loved the freedom they felt on the dance floor. Many americans were uncomfortable with the new urban racy culture/environment. The 1920 s brought more conflict than celebration did. The 1920 s heralded a dramatic break between the past as well as the future of america. This decade is the same decade that was witness to urbanism and modernism which also introduced the KKK (Ku -Klux-Klan), Nativism, and modernism. One of the most famous symbol of the roaring twenties is the flapper. A flapper is a Cinevert 3 young lady with bobbed hair and short skirts who drink, smoke, and did un lady like things such as being more sexually active than other females. In the 1920s most young women did none of the these unlady like activities, although they did have a very good sense for fashion. Even the females who were not flappers still received some freedom.
