Market Trends and Growth Binary.edu.my explains how jobs in the past use to be less competitive even though lesser people went to universities. Jobs were in abundance in the past despite most of graduates were generalist who had to compete with functional specialists. However, in todays market, most jobs are being pursued by hundreds of graduates applying for it. Employers are no longer looking to employ graduates with just degrees, but ones who have knowledge relevant to the industry in which they find themselves in. Employers notice a graduate who has a clear and much knowledge on a particular industry that is among a hundred of applicants and they feel the need to have that particular applicant in their organization. This leaves little room for applicants who only poses paper qualification and less knowledge about an industry in which they are applying for a job in. SWOT ANALYSIS OF BINARY SCHOOL OF BUSINESS Strengths Industry Specialist Professionals (ISP) The schools strength lies in its differentiation and ability to according to binary.edu.my produce graduates from its degree courses who do not just graduate with an award and certificate from the university but also a certificate in a specialized industry. The industry specialist professionals program which is undertaken by degree and masters students is equipped at preparing the schools students with the advantage in the marketplace and also to employers with an extensive practical knowledge of a specific industry. The business school teaches and prepares its students to analyze issues, defines problems, compare alternatives, formulate solutions and implement action plans in any industry they might find themselves in after graduation. Weaknesses Concentration on ISP So much focus is placed on the ISP program as a means of ensuring students from the school of business graduate with what is to be seen as an advantage in the workplace. However, this program provides graduates with knowledge on a specific industry. In the case a particular graduate does not end up in the industry in which his/her ISP was targeted on, they become as common as the other applicants they might end up applying for a job with. Opportunities Location The university is located in a area which provides the students of the business school to have a feel of how a business environment is like. The universities location is in the Multimedia Super Corridor (MSC), in IOI Business Park. The environment is filled with easy access to transportation, accommodation, a variety of food, and also an easy reach to the countries international airport. The location is also an advantage for the school of business to maintain its position in the country as it is the only business school located in the IOI business park, Puchong. University Partners The business school attracts a lot of students from both local and international market with its according to binary.edu.my 2+1 option which makes it possible for students to pursue their first and second year of a degree program at Binary and when they reach their third and final year, have the option of completing their study in one of the partner universities in the united kingdom and Australia. This business option attracts a lot of students because of the following: The cost of education are much lower than to complete the entire degree overseas Students get the chance to study in Britain or Australia thus acquiring valuable overseas experience Students who choose this option are awarded the same degree by the British/Australian university as if they studied all 3 years overseas Threats Uncertainty and unpredictability of University Partners The universities partnered with the business school for the 2+1 option such as the University of Teesside, University of East London, Murdoch University and Deakin University can always end their partnership with the university and not renew it if they see no need necessary to especially in the case students to choose to complete their degrees elsewhere. In some cases where there is issues such as with immigration which is out of the control of the both parties, students may be discouraged in pursuing the option and might look to pursue their degree programs in other universities or the schools competitors. COMPETITION Although Binary is the only School offering business in Puchong, it is not the only one providing a course in business in the Selangor state. There are a couple of universities in the state also offering the same courses in business. However, the schools major competitors are: Taylors University The school of business in Taylorss University according to taylors.edu.my seeks to produce graduates who have the unique approach to prepare themselves to face todays business world. Strengths The business school in Taylors offers a wider range of courses as compared to Binarys business school. The business school has a foundation, diploma and degree for business management just as Binary business school but alike Binary; it also offers degree courses in human resource management, international business, international marketing, applied finance, commerce in accounting, and a masters course in finance and masters in business administration and management. Weaknesses Even though Taylors university according to taylors.edu.my has on its curriculum an industry-relevant program; it is not as intensive as that of Binarys business school. Binarys ISP is a program focused on producing graduates with knowledge on a particular industry, Taylors offers it as part of its curriculum and not a program which leads to a separate certificate when graduating. Opportunities Taylors business school has a program, Taylors American degree transfer program which according to taylors.edu.my sees to it that students get a chance to transfer from Taylors business school into over 50 universities in the United States, Canada, Australia, United Kingdom and New Zealand of which is of a wider range of options compared to Binary. Threats The number threat Taylor has is from Binary and this is in the form of the ISP program. Binary might not have the range of university partners Taylors has but it has an advantage for its graduates in terms of knowledge about chosen industries. Sunway University College According to sunway.edu.my, the Sunway School of business has a commitment to international academic standards and also encouraging its students to reach out to reach their potential. The school has the necessary skills to help it mould its students into leaders. Strengths The school of business focuses a lot on providing academic excellence. To enable the school achieve this, its faculty are trained to make use of case analysis, group projects, field trips, classroom discussions and guest speakers as a way of helping them teach. The school also, as a means of helping its graduates find situatble jobs, works closely with the business community to according to sunway.edu.my help their students with finding quality internship and employment after graduation. Weaknesses Less effort or no effort is placed at all on preparing its graduates with knowledge in specific industries to help them gain a competitive advantage when it comes to todays industry-competitive market. Opportunities The school of business of Sunway has its degree programs validated by the university of Lancaster in the united Kingdom. Graduates are both recognized from both universities and the school makes it a priority to have a consultant from the university of Lancaster to help council and guide students in Sunway school of business to make choices in regards with their chosen career field. Threats Without the ISP program and with limited university partners, Sunway school of business is faced with the threat of its competitors enrolling most of the students who seek to pursue a course in business in the Selangor state. UCTI Strengths Just like Binary, UCTI has a foundation program which leads to a degree of diploma course. However, the school of business of UCTI according to ucti.edu.my has a wider range of diploma and degree course compared to Binary. The diploma in business studies in UCTI has wider options such as diploma in business administration and diploma in business with information technology, this helps graduates gain an advantage over other applicants with the knowledge they poses in information technology. The degree course of UCTI ranges from business management, business management with specialism in e-business, international business management, marketing management, human resource management, tourism management, service management, finance and accounting and finally, media marketing. Weaknesses Even though the school has a wider range of diploma and degree courses as compared to Binarys business school, its weakness is its inability to direct any of those courses at providing its students with knowledge in relevant or specific industries. Opportunities According to ucti.edu.my, the school of business of UCTI has a wider range and option in terms of university partners located in the United Kingdom and Australia. The school of business has available for its students, 17 university partners from the United Kingdom and 14 partners in Australia. Students are more attracted to the school of business of UCTI due to its vast partnership. Threats UCTI is also threatened just like Sunway by its competitors Taylors and Binary who provide curriculums and programs on industry related courses. BINARY SCHOOL OF BUSINESS PRODUCT OFFERING Foundation in Business Studies The business school of Binary according to binary.edu.my places focus on high school leavers who most often than not are faced with making a choice on which type of degree they would want to undertake in universities. The foundation program of the business school has the objective of: Laying down a foundation of students in their chosen pursue of a career in business Provide them with the chance of either pursuing their degree program locally or abroad To help students analyze a wide range of career options. Diploma Binary business school undertakes the diploma in business administration (DBA) program, a program which instill in students the foundation in business management with which they need to poses in becoming competitive targets for employers. Students who pursue the DBA program according to binary.edu.my have the benefits of: Gaining the understanding of the key areas necessary to drive a business Learn to produce good reports, create and present excellent presentations, gain the ability to market products globally, develop quality initiatives and be able to work effectively in a team UNDERGRADUATE- Business Management and marketing According to binary.edu.my, as most schools rely on the traditional ways of producing business degree holders in areas of marketing, human resource, and finance who end up taking jobs such as marketers, financial analyst, or human resource experts. These traditional ways just concentrate on producing graduates who are just equipped with academic knowledge about the industry they find themselves in, but with Binary business school, it places more focus on ensuring that its graduates who pursue a degree in BA (Hons) in either business management or marketing also have an advantage on the knowledge and skills of their chosen industries. KEY TO SUCCESS The key to success for Binarys business school will be to concentrate on one of the universities educational goal of delighting employers by producing graduates who are industry specialist professionals. If the business school somehow manages to make use of the universities forged links between academia and industry to differentiate its graduates by ensuring they become industry specialist professionals, the school of business will become a very profitable and sustainable part of the universities success. CRITICAL ISSUES The school of business has the issue of playing its part to ensure that the universities educational goals are achieved. These issues, according to binary.edu.my include: To enhance student learning To be committed to continuous knowledge development through research To promote internationalization and attain international reputation To be a socially responsible, ethical and accountable university To strengthen community interaction and service To enhance professional training and lifelong learning MARKETING STRATEGY MISSION The mission of the school of business is to help achieve the highest international standards in management and also to mould world-class hybrid managers using their unique ISP formula. MARKETING OBJECTIVES The objectives of the school of business of binary according to binary.edu.my, includes the following: Development of careers from industry specialist professionals to industry specialist experts Produce industry professionally trained graduates with in depth knowledge about specific industries POSITIONING Binary school of business has positioned itself in the educational industry as the school which provides affordable world class education equipped with the competitive advantage of producing graduates who become Industry Specialist Professionals MARKETING MIX Pricing Binary business school has to continue to be the cost leadership in the industry if it intends to continue enjoying its position as the only affordable business school with the provision of world class education equipped with ISP. The school needs to continue to operate at the lowest cost in the education industry. In the case it is faced with competition from its competitors, the school needs to temporarily price its services at a lower price but ensure that the new temporarily price is enough to cover up cost of operations. Distribution To ensure that the business school increases its number in terms of students, the strategy of seeking out new students by the school into the course needs to be changed and more of the work of attracting students for the business courses be done through intermediaries. The use of agents and taking part in educational fairs can be a way for the school to gain more students. Also, more can be done by the school for its graduates in helping them develop from ISPs to ISEs if the school involves itself more in working more closely with the business environment to ensure its graduates end up with appropriate jobs which are related to their chosen industry. Promotion The current strategy, push strategy being used by the school by making use of its marketing team to attract and promote its products has t be changed to a pull strategy where more emphasis is placed on spending more funds on advertising and promoting courses to students willing to pursue courses n business. The pull strategy will see more money being focused on advertising in newspapers, television, radio, banners and posters, through e-mails and adverts via the internet instead of concentrating on promoting benefits of the business courses through word of mouth. Product For the school of business to achieve the above objectives, it needs to increase its product line. The current courses it offers in degree can be expanded to include courses such as tourism management, human resource management, international business, marketing management and other business related courses to help attract more students, widen the industry based programs and also produce specialist from a wider range of chosen industries. FINANCIALS BREAK-EVEN ANALYSIS According to the breakeven graph above, $7920 is the point at which the business school will be required to operate in order to reach its breakeven point and not overspend or loss out on operational cost in its strategies. EXPENSE FORECAST FOR BINARY BUSINESS SCHOOL Marketing Expense Budget 2011 2012 2013 Website $25,000 $7,910 $9,912 Advertisements $7,400 $14,900 $19,290 Printed Material $1,450 $1,789 $2,956 Total Operations and Marketing Expenses $33,850 $24,599 $32,158 Percentage of Operations 5.57% 2.98% 3.94% Contribution Margin $372,000 $523,231 $59,984 Contribution Margin/Operations 72.56% 74.12% 78.10% The above table is a budget for the next 3 years for the school of business to help execute its strategies of achieving its objectives. CONTROLS IMPLEMENTATION It is very necessary that the above strategies and objectives are carried out without fail, are performed on time or as planned and that the budget is adhered to ensure that the school achieves its objectives with its recommended strategies and that it meets its breakeven point to avoid overspending and loss. MARKETING ORGANIZATION The marketing team of the school shall be in charge in ensuring that all strategies are carried out on time, as planned and within the set budget. CONTINGENCY PLANNING Difficulties and Risks In the case there is any difficulty in implementing the strategies, the recommended strategy will be reviewed and necessary changes made. If the budget set for implementing the strategies is running out faster than expected, a budgeted emergency fund should be made available to ensure that the implementation moves on smoothly without any risks or difficulties. Worst case Scenario When students start leaving due to unsatisfactory results, lack of school interest in ensuring they gain good and appropriate jobs and for reasons of increase in pricing, the whole strategy will be aborted and a new one created. Also, when the budget set is running out when less than 50% of the implementation has been accomplished, the implementation stage will be forced into a halt to ensure the school does not end up spending more than it earns.

Leadership examples | Robert Kuok Hock Nien
Leadership examples | Robert Kuok Hock Nien Leadership can be defined as a persons ability to let others willing to follow leadership. Every organization needs leaders at all levels. Leaders can be found and nurtured if you look at the following character traits. Visionary leader has a clear, vivid picture of where to go, and firmly grasp that looks like what is success and how to achieve it. But it is not enough to have a vision; leaders also must be shared and put into practice. Jack Welch, the former chairman and chief executive officer of General Electric Company, said, Good business leaders create a vision, a clear vision, passion, vision and relentlessly drive it through. (Investing Value) The leader must be able to communicate, buy its followers in his or her vision. He or she must communicate clearly and enthusiasm, passion is contagious. Besides that, a good leader must have the discipline and single-minded in his or her vision, as well as to guide his or her actions, and to the goals of the team. The action is a sign of the leader. A leader does not suffer analysis paralysis, but the thing to do is always in pursuit of the vision, inspire others to do the same. The simplest definition for leadership is a leader having followers. According to Keith Grint, leadership is not simply to delineate a space in a language game, and it is not merely a game of sophistry; indeed, we dont need to agree on the definition but we need to be able to understand each others position so as to make sense of each others arguments (Grint, 2010). A good leader will lead the organization to a better future and also provide benefits to society. The characteristics of a leader also important because it may affect the society when the leader became the role model of the world. Peoples will practice what the leader done to become the way success. Objectives To learn more about those succeed leadership To identified the way of the leaders succeed To compare the similarity and the difference between those leaders To understand the characteristics of each leader Research methodology During this assignment, most of my information came from internet and also refers from some reference book to get more details to support what I need to do. Besides that, I do ask for some peoples opinion on the leader that I had chosen to understand the reason why and how the leader influenced the world and also the person himself/ herself. Literature review The simplest definition for leadership is a leader having followers. According to Keith Grint, leadership is not simply to delineate a space in a language game, and it is not merely a game of sophistry; indeed, we dont need to agree on the definition but we need to be able to understand each others position so as to make sense of each others arguments (Grint, 2010). Leadership ability, which means that the leader has the ability to do something through talent and technology (Smith, 2010). Talent is natural and technical capabilities through training and experience. Talent is certainly helpful, but not required. I know many people are born with leadership close to zero, but become great leaders through training, experience, and most importantly, persistence (Smith, 2010). Good leadership is critical to a successful school. Success comes from aiming high with the clear vision, ethos and communication that good leadership brings. We will act to support high quality school leadership and inspired ambitious school communities. (Ambitious, Excellent Schools Our Agenda for Action, Scottish Executive, 2004, p5) Even more recently, it is not an isolated activity, investment in a person, but all kinds of people, and contributes to the leadership of effective leadership, leadership distribution. If this happens, then the leadership willing to go beyond the individual management training, the need to obtain a wider development team leadership: leadership skills, how to develop? The new qualification is called the National Professional Qualification in Integrated Centre Leadership (National College for School Leadership, 2005): It is acknowledged that the early leadership with distinctive emphases, especially in the development of integrated services and hybrid models of the staff continue to be a feature of the early childhood work. One view was that the leadership is personal qualities, therefore, the single leadership role, the concept of competition and power of the built-in (Thornton, 2005) does not sit easily with the cooperation of the way early childhood education practice basis. Early years before school services are often non-hierarchical, and the majority of women workers (Ebbeck and Waniganayake, 2003; Rodd, 2005). Fairly flat structure means, assigned leadership models are often enough to be the priority in the early childhood setting, although in pen green (Pen Green, 2005) asserts that if we transform the life chances of children can only be completed by the far-sighted leadership. Early childhood sector continues to grow; we are now the majority of families use of pre-school education (Scottish Executive, 2004a). These different settings often have a different concept, structure and quality assurance of various models: Muijs et al (2004) report that they are inspected by different bodies. Solly (2003) conducted a study finds that there is regarded as a leader in setting the differences in the various types of child care. Pre-school, primary school, private and voluntary settings, respondents believe that a single leader, but a formal leadership kindergarten celebration and centers of excellence provide a broader interpretation. Early education to clarify their leadership, according to a different set, they are based. For example, Osgood reported that private sector providers are easier to apply business principles, a set of management and volunteer management department set less comfortable with entrepreneurship agenda (Osgood, 2004). Management kindergartens tend to have a collaborative leadership and community-centered way, jeopardize the gains for fear of competition (Osgood, 2004). The leader sex may be a way, in addition to the education sector leadership in early childhood. Rhoda (2005), women determine the concept and need to be led by the question: What kind of leadership could mean that early childhood services, they may lack of understanding. Involving sets (Dunlop, 2005), the relationship between the concept of leadership in the department, has more in common with early childhood education teaching method than the traditional business philosophy, leadership. There is a view that the different leadership styles of men and women leaders: Recent research has provided no evidence to support this (Muijs). However, Solly (2003) found that the majority of early childhood leaders, in his study that the difference between the department and other leadership styles. A social constructivist mode of learning often early years, advocates, Solly found that leaders of early childhood education itself active learning tendency to make others. The participants felt that the advantage of their own propaganda, inspiration, enthusiasm, and spirit, are lifelong learners and teamwork (Solly, 2003). In my opinion, I do agree that some leader was born to be but most of them were made. Nobody will be the perfect one but after trained, most of the attitude will bring up after training to become a leader. Just like Boon Siew and Lim Goh Tong, who emigrated from China, Kuoks father arrived in Malaya from Fujian, China in the early 20th century. And unlike the late Boon Siew and Goh Tong, Kuok is an educated rich man (Unknown, 2010). He received his early education in English schools and then enrolled into Raffles College in Singapore, with Lee Kuan Yew as one of the classmates. He had a short stint working with Japanese companies, Mitsubishi after studies at Raffles was stopped because the invasion of Japan, before helping his father with the trade business. After the death of his father, Kuok and his two brothers have decided to continue the legacy business, starting with the distribution of sugar and some other commodities under the new post-colonial government (Ikhwan, 2011). Business skills they have picked up from their father, who is an avid trader. In 1961, he made a coup by buying cheap sugar from India before the price goes up. Kuok massive involvement in the sugar industry allows the company to be a supplier of open government and Kuok sugar refinery plant to grow again. At the height of his business, he has control of 80% of the Malaysian sugar market with production of 1.5 million tons, equivalent to 10% of the global export market, and so earned his nickname Sugar King of Asia. Encouraged by the success of his sugar business, Kuok has fastened his growing business into flour milling, shipping, logistics, oil and gas and hotel. His resurrections to success are fame and famous due to both his expertise in spotting opportunities and strong network with great people, corporations and governments. In 1971, he built the first Shangri-La Hotel in Singapore. His foray into Hong Kong property is in 1977, when he acquired a new piece of land reclaimed Tsim Sha Tsui East waterfront, where he built a second hotel, the Kowloon Shangri-La. Kuok controls the Shangri-La hotel chain and is the largest shareholder of Transmile Group Berhad, which is engaged in accounting irregularities scandal in 2007, the stock price goes down. In addition, he took Kerry Group a34.9% interest in the South China Morning Post from Murdochs News Corporation in 1993. He said his hotel check every now and then to ensure that staff provides the highest quality service. There are times when he inv ited the taxi driver for a free lunch at the hotels cafe. Kuok is considered a man of truth when dealing with people, including employees. There are stories Kuok sought permission from cabin crew to smoke in an airplane he owns. When the crew told him that he would not have to ask anyone, he responded by saying that he was only asked in a normal passenger capacity. His company has investments in many countries, including Singapore, Thailand, China, Indonesia, Fiji and Australia. Business in China includes 10 bottling companies Coca Cola, ownership of the World Trade Centre Beijing. Confirmed his political influence he was named by one of the childs future advisor Hong Kong in the run up to the transfer of sovereignty of Hong Kong, and minority interests in CITIC Pacific. He also played an important role in disseminating information and set up a meeting between Malaysia and China governments leading to full diplomatic cross recognition between the two countries. Kuok has married twice and has eight children. He officially retired from the Kerry Group on 1 April, 1993. Now, Kuok Khoon Ean, one of the sons of Robert, handl es most of the day-to-day operations of the business. He was living in Hong Kong at this time. The Character of Lennie in John Steinbecks Of Mice and Men :: Steinbeck Of Mice and Men Essays
The Character of Lennie in Of Mice and Men Have you ever read Of Mice and Men by John Steinbeck? If so, you probably remember Lennie, George's companion. Throughout the novel, Lennie and George dream of having their own farm. They work on a ranch to save money for their dream farm. Lennie is a big, strong, man with rounded features. He is at times very forgetful, absent-minded, and one-dimensional. First of all, Lennie is greatly forgetful. In the beginning of the novel, Lennie kept asking George where they were going (Steinbeck 4). One character, Crooks, takes advantage of his forgetfulness. Because Lennie would forget anything Crooks told him, he was relieved he could talk to somebody without worrying about him telling anybody else. He often forgot what George told him not to do, like talk or even look at Curley's wife. Next to being forgetful, Lennie is absent-minded for a good portion of the novel. He is unaware of what he's doing sometimes until he has done it. For example, he enjoyed to pet soft objects. While living in Weed, he was "petting" a woman's dress and the woman started to scream (Steinbeck 11). Lennie didn't know what he was doing wrong. Once Lennie was given a puppy, he accidentally killed it because he was too rough with it. Eventually, he would kill Curley's wife too by breaking her neck when told he could pet her hair. Again, Lennie did not know what he was doing wrong until it was done. Throughout the novel, there is really only one thing on Lennie's mind, tending to the rabbits once he and George had their farm. After Crooks was done telling Lennie his childhood story, Lennie asks a question about rabbits (Steinbeck 70). This is an example of Lennie having only one thing on his mind.

A Comparison of Satire in Catch-22 and Good as Gold :: comparison compare contrast essays
Satire in Catch-22 and Good as Gold à Joseph Heller who is perhaps one of the most famous writers of the 20th century writes on some emotional issues such as war. He does not deal with these issues in the normal fashion instead he criticizes them and the institutions that help carry these things out. Heller in fact goes beyond criticizing he satirizes. Throughout his two major novels Catch-22 and Good as Gold he satirizes almost all of America's respectful institutions. à Catch-22 is a satire on World War II. This novel takes place on the small island of Pianosa in the Mediterranean sea late in the war when Germany is no longer a threat. It is the struggle of one man, Yossarian, to survive the war. Throughout this novel Yossarian is trying to escape the war, and in order to do so he does many improper things. Good as Gold is about a Jewish man named Gold. It is about Gold's experiences with the government while being employed in the White House. It also deals in detail with Gold's family problems and Gold's struggle to write a book on the contemporary Jewish society. Throughout these two novels, Catch-22 and Good as Gold, Heller criticizes many institutions. In Good as Gold it is the White House and government as a whole, and in Catch-22 it is the military and medical institutions. à In Catch-22 the military is heavily satirized. Heller does this by criticizing it. Karl agrees with this statement by offering an example of the satire of both the military and civilian institutions in Catch-22: à The influence of mail clerk Wintergreen, the computer foul-up that promotes Major Major, and the petty rivalries among officers satirizes the communication failures and the cut-throat competition Heller saw within both the civilian and military bureaucracies of the 1950's. Even the Civil Rights movement, not yet widespread in the 1950's, is satirized in Colonel Cathcart attitudes toward enlisted men. (23) à Karl summarizes the satirazation of the military with this: à The enemy in Heller's book is not simply the chaos of war, but also the deadly inhuman bureaucracy of the military-economic establishment which clams to be a stay against chaos while it threatens human life more insidiously then battle itself. à Heller also questions the need for the death and carnage throughout the novel asking if it is really necessary.

marketing Essay -- essays research papers
Race and Racism à à à à à Race and racism have been around since mankind made its first steps on the planet and it has brought upon violence, submissiveness, cruelty, and sexism into the world. A great representation of these themes and issues was brought by LeRoi Jones, who wrote ââ¬Å"The Dutchmanâ⬠. The play itself is a great representation of the relationships of races in America during the 60ââ¬â¢s and can even been connected to todayââ¬â¢s society. The Dutchman mainly focuses on the black-white relationship but can also be drawn to other cultures and races. I, myself, can also relate to what LeRoi Jones wrote in one way or another. Being a different culture and not being accepted was the first faà §ade of America that I got to experience and even though things have changed for me, I do have resentful feelings because some things just do not seem to change. LeRoi Jones made that clear because he wrote a play that can be related to events that are still happening today. à à à à à The Dutchman is a fast paced play that makes an amazing transition from scene one to scene two. After doing some reading online, it has been said that the play actually resembles the version of the Adam and Eve story, where a white, insane, smart, and seducing woman prepares to kill a naà ¯ve black man. Clay and Lula are the main characters on the train and they engage in an intriguing and mind twisting display of word play. The play wants to steer the audience into a revolutionary thought process by proposing the idea of not being afraid, oppressed, and fighting back. The audience or readers feel stupid through the first act because Lula plays mind games and tries to bait Clay. LeRoi Jones did this on purpose because he wanted the audience to feel suspicious and stupid. He succeeds in this because Lula throws so much at the reader in act one that itââ¬â¢s almost impossible to even comprehend what she is saying. Clay is a twenty-year-old black man. Clay is a typical bourgeois black male and he seems to be very predictable that Lola is actually able to tell his history just by the way he acts and dresses. Clay is at first attracted to Lula who begins to flirt with him and invites herself to the party. But Clay is rather shocked by Lula because she is violent and racist. Even as she is behaving like that, he tries to keep his composure and maintain a certain ... ...se this play to educate others just by having someone else read this. I read this and did not understand the meaning first but this does apply to todayââ¬â¢s society. LeRoi Jones wants underrepresented groups to be heard, especially when being pressured to conform or change by the dominant culture. I think America is great. It has given me an opportunity to start a new life after leaving the war in Bosnia. I did not know of many things that have happened here. The irony of it all is the cornerstone of the American history is freedom and equality. Yet, itââ¬â¢s so hard to think of everyone as equals. I just have a hard time grasping why things can not change. I come from Europe and things there are different. Yes, there is a lot of fighting, especially in my area of the world, but people appreciate each other more than they do here in America. It will be a long time before America changes but its going to be a long journey simply because there are still ignorant people out there who will pass that ignorance on to their future generations. In my opinion, America should not be called a nation yet because itââ¬â¢s not even united on a level that is more important than anything else in the world.

Practicum Evaluation Summary Essay
The practicum learning agreement created between the masters of Science in nursing (MSN) student and the instructor was approved for the goal to perform in the role of a nurse educator at the Domiciliary Rehabilitation Program at the Orlando Veterans Affairs Medical Center (VAMC). The population of the Domiciliary Residential Rehabilitation Program is veterans with multiple and severe medical conditions, mental illness, addiction, or psychosocial deficits. Military-related posttraumatic stress disorder (PTSD) can negatively affect the veteranââ¬â¢s well-being (Health Services Administration, 2010). The care needs of the nursing staff were assessed to identify the need for the educational program in the rehabilitation program. Further development, implementation and evaluation of a program to improve the veteranââ¬â¢s quality-of-life were the objectives to provide the best outcomes of a teaching/learning program. The learning agreement included the strategies to accomplish the objective with an established time-line and self-reflective journal to meet the best outcomes. Professional relationships were established with a mentor and networking with the organization improved professional advancement capabilities at the Orlando VAMC. Evaluation of the effectiveness of the project produced positive outcomes to improve the veteransââ¬â¢ quality of life. The role of a leader used evidence-based decision-making and applied ethical standards. The importance of nursing theory provided the principles to generate nursing knowledge and create practices to help the veterans who are affected by PTSD. The practicum experience enhanced the role as a nurse educator to improve cost-effective nursing practices for the veterans at the VA Medical Center. Effectiveness of Project The project began with an idea using a practicum project brainstorm worksheet (Appendix A). The learning objectives were established, and a timeline was used to maintain a deadline for completion (Appendix B). Each learning objective used Bloomââ¬â¢s taxonomy for three learning domains: cognitive/knowledge (mental learning), affective/attitudes (growing feeling learning) and psychomotor skills (manual/physical learning) (DeYoung, 2009). The first learning objective analyzed peer-reviewed literature and evidence-based research to identify the disease process and formulation ofà best practices (Burns & Groves, 2009). An extensive reference base was conducted and used to draft a needs assessment that was discussed with the mentor, mental health team, nurse manager, and educator (T. Russell, H. Ortiz, D. Hopson, personal communication, Summer, 2013). Their experienced feedback was practical in completing an effective outcome to the objective. The next learning objective was to design the educational program using a PowerPoint presentation, hand-outs, knowledge test, and final evaluation. A teaching plan guideline with learning objectives followed Veteran Affairs Health Administration procedures for quality and performance (Orlando VAMC, 2013). A summary of the program was presented and approved by administration. Implementation of the learning program was coordinated with approval of management. A flyer was created to announce the class dates and times. All three shifts on the rehabilitation department were provided a verbal pre-test and lectured on the topic. Many opportunities for open-discussion helped the staff explore their own beliefs and experiences to improve their knowledge and skills. The post-tests were scored and found a positive correlation to learning and accomplishing the program objectives. The VAMC evaluation tool was used to score the course and instructor. Self-reflective journaling helped to identify strengths and weaknesses of the program and teaching techniques used. The results were shared with the mentor who provided encouragement to learn from the experience and build knowledge of performing as an educator. The outcomes of implementing the teaching program was completed and found to be successful in improving nursing knowledge by providing evidence-based practice to enhance the veteranââ¬â¢s well-being. A final evaluation of the practicum learning used the Orlando VAMC evaluation form. The teaching program method was appropriate for learners. A detailed reflective analysis in the portfolio included results from a final meeting with the mentor, administration, mental health team, and educator. All favored the educational program to improve nursing standards of care for veterans with PTSD in the rehabilitation program. Encouragement to expand the teaching to nursing staff on all mental health departments and in the orientation program for newly hired nursing personnel was made by the mentalà health chief nurse. The outcome had few strength and weaknesses in which to learn from. The weaknesses are personal areas of improvement that can be enhanced with continued experience as an educator, optional training aids available at the VAMC and continued evaluations for improvement. Another weakness of the project was the small learning experience as compared to the nursing population at the VAMC. MSN Program Student Learning Outcomes A quality assessment process from up-to-date journal reviews can provide the decision-making for new interventions in patient care. Evidence-based decision-making requires the integration of the best available research evidence addressing specific clinical questions (Kranke, 2010). A systematic review of literature was pooled to obtain data about PTSD issues. Prepared health professionals use evidence to inform safe practice and account for positive patient care outcomes are the aim for delivery of health care. Competence, education and skills play a critical role in achieving safe patient care in a complex health care system. Nursing professionals have the role to ensure the translation of evidence into practice while evaluating outcomes. The demand for improved patient care and a safe health care delivery system is taught at the University of Phoenix and the Veterans Health Administration. Nurses have a direct effect on patient care outcomes and quality (McLaughlin & Kaluzny, 2006) . Influencing change is essential in any organization and a good change agent is required as a leader (Tomey, 2009). Analyzing and identifying the need to implement an educational course to teach nursing staff how to better care for veterans with PTSD requires the collection of data, using the right tools, preparing objectives, and evaluating the process of change. Advance nursing education has helped to gain the skills to diagnose and plan positive change to improve patient care outcomes. The principles of successful leadership are important in affecting change. Leadership skills are necessary to drive and maintain change. Views on diversity can bring change to programs. Veterans bring their own set of beliefs and values to a diverse and multicultural environment. Providing relevant care is important for nurses to understand their own beliefs, culture and values as well as understanding the veteranââ¬â¢s views. Their rights to confidentiality and privacy are trusted by patients to be maintained by medical personnel. A code of ethics, moral philosophies andà effective communication is learned in advance nursing education to help guide the decisions in meeting patient care needs (Burkhards & Nathaniel, 2008). Theory provides the framework to structure and builds knowledge (Walker & Avant, 2005). Models can help to link research, education and practice. The change process is complex. Nursing practice theories provide the framework for interventions and prediction of outcomes. Theories can guide practices in nursing that focus on the difference and similarities in respect to human care. Nursing theory provides the foundation to assess, evaluate and plan interventions. A theoretical perspective can help to meet the challenges of health care delivery and provide guidelines for nursing practices (Fitzpatrick & Whall, 2005). Nursing theory is essential in nursing research, education, practice, and development. Nursing theory helps to decide what is known and what needs to be known. The benefits include better patient care, enhanced professional status, improved communication, and guidance for research and education. Because care cannot be measured, theory can analyze it. Nursing models and theo ry are beneficial to the nursing practice. Development of Professional Nursing Career The project provided the opportunity to perform as a nurse educator and gain experience for advancement in this specialty. Involvement with nurse administrators, the mental health team, the nurse educators, and adjunct staff provided valuable opportunities to network. My work on the practicum project has advanced to expanding the program I created and the formal invite to join the mental health and rehabilitation team. The educational program has also advanced best practices of nursing personnel to perform with higher knowledge and skills. Years of nursing experience, expertise knowledge in mental health and gerontological nursing and the learning experience gained from the practicum project exposed me to knowledge and skills to take responsibility in leadership and advance my nursing career to a management level in the near future. Conclusion The practicum project was a success in improving patient care for veterans who have PTSD at the rehabilitation program. The experience from achieving personal learning objectives was a rewarding experience. Performing as aà nurse educator using evidence-based decision-making in creating and implementing a program at the Orlando VAMC was evaluated as effective and safe in teaching best practices. Leading and advocating for ethical principles, addressing diversity and applying theory contributed to full development of my professional nursing career. The practicum experience has provided the knowledge, skills and experience to further advance my career in professional nursing. References Burkhards, M.A., Nathaniel, A.K. (2008). Be Able to Contribute to Planning Learning Activities Essay
Hello Harry I met you at the Hyatt Hotel in Birmingham and I spoke to your assistant manager about my trip to Malawi. I Hope you are ok! Below is a picture of me and you at villa part in 2010! WOW! I had the most amazing opportunity to volunteer in Ghana for 6 weeks in July, its quiet unbelievable to be given another opportunity to help make people happy again!! BUT!! Every volunteer MUST raise à £800. ALL Money raised goes to projects whilst we are out there etc. I shall be working with Orphans and also teaching mothers how to educate their child. Iââ¬â¢m finding it extremely difficult to raise my fundraising target and I have à £635 to go until lively minds (company im going with) are happy with my fundraising, Its totally stressing me out as I have to pay for my own flights too!! Which is an additional à £700 and coming from a single parent family on a council estate is hard, I just want to make myself proud and have a good life This is the only thing that makes me happy, Li fes pretty dull to be honest . But when Iââ¬â¢m making others happy and putting smiles on the faces of children who truly have nothing to live for, but keep going and keep fighting their everyday life makes me happy about myself. When I spoke to you before the game you said you woul help me reach my fundraising target. I truly hope that is still possible so i can then the company can lay off my back and I concentrate on raising my flight costs. It would mean the world if you could help me on this quest. To be able to relax and know i am going to Ghana and not telling people ââ¬Å"Maybe depending on if i achieve my fundraising targetâ⬠would be HARRYmazing!
